Frequently Asked Questions

How can I remove the advertisements?

Villagers vs. Vampire is available for free, with advertisements (iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play). You can remove the advertisements, and gain the ability to track in-game Achievements (GameCenter only), by purchasing the full version on iTunes or Amazon’s App Store.

How do I turn off the sounds in the game?

While playing, tap the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left) to enter the store, then go to the Options tab. Tap on the Sounds button to toggle sounds off or on.

What does the “New Game” button do?

To start the game over at Level 1, open Villagers vs. Vampire and tap the New Game button. You will see a confirmation window stating the following: “Start over at Level 1, with existing coins and upgrades?

If you select “Yes”, your game will restart at Level 1, but you will still have the Coins and Upgrade Points you had already earned / purchased. If you did not intend to hit New Game, you can simply choose “No” on the confirmation pop-up and then select “Continue” to return to your previous game.

What do each of the game tiles mean?

Pitchforks (and torches, swords, etc) are the attack tiles. They can be matched to Coffins or to each other to remove them from the board. Attack tiles do damage after every match, so they should be removed from the game board as soon as possible.

Coffins are your defense, and matching them fills up your defense (purple) bar at the top of the screen. Attacks will damage your defense first, if you have any, and then move on to your health, so it’s a good idea to keep your defense bar as full as you can. Coffins can also be matched to the attack tiles (pitchforks, torches, etc).

Veggies are your health, and matching them fills up your health (green) bar at the top of the screen. When you run out of health, the level ends with a loss, and you must try again, so keep an eye on the health bar if you want to win the level.

Bats (and rats, zombies, etc) are your allies, and matching them fills up your ally (Bat) icon at the bottom of the screen. Each time you make a match of allies, you scare one Villager, and each time you tap the “scare” icon (the Bat in the bottom right) you scare a group of Villagers.

Coins are your currency, and matching them adds to the coins saved in your bank at the bottom of the screen. Use the coins in the store to purchase items to help you defend the castle.

What are the numbers at the bottom of the screen?

The Farmers (and soldiers, archers, etc) value shows you how many villagers are left to scare away, before you can win the level. When this number reaches “0″, you move on to the next level.

The Scare value shows you how many villagers are scared away, each time you tap the Ally (Bat) icon in the lower right. This value increases as you go up in level.

The Collect values show you how many Allies you have versus how many you need, in order to summon the Allies to Scare the Villagers. If you do not have enough Allies collected, the Bat icon is dimmed out and you cannot tap it. The number of Allies needed per scare increases as you go up in level.

For example, say you have “Farmers: 7″, “Scare: 4″, and “Collect: 14/6″. That means you have 7 Farmers left, you Scare 4 at a time, you have collected 14 Bats, and 6 are needed per summon. You would be able to tap the Bat icon twice (using 12 total Bats), scaring away 8 total Farmers (4 per Scare), and thus win the level.

How do I spend my Coins?

Visit the store by tapping the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left). Tap on the Store tab, where you can spend your Coins on Upgrade Points, the Premium Upgrade pack, or Bonuses that increase the odds of particular tiles dropping for 10 turns. To see all of the Bonuses, you can scroll the list by dragging it up and down.

Exit the store by tapping the Pumpkin Coin icon again, or by tapping the red “X” in the top right corner.

How do I use Upgrade Points?

Visit the store by tapping the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left). Your purchased Upgrade Points are shown on the Points tab. Here, you can add or subtract your Upgrade Points to each of the three tile multipliers: Coins, Coffins, or Veggies. The multipliers increase the value of each matched tile. For example, 3x Coins means you get three Coins added to your total for every Coin matched on-screen.

Exit the store by tapping the Pumpkin Coin icon again, or by tapping the red “X” in the top right corner.

How do I use Bonuses?

Visit the store by tapping the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left). The in-game Bonuses are shown below the Premium Upgrade, and you can scroll the list by dragging it up and down. You can purchase a Bonus using your collected Coins, which will increase the odds of a particular tile dropping, and lasts for 10 turns. The current available Bonuses are: Coffins, Veggies, Allies.

Exit the store by tapping the Pumpkin Coin icon again, or by tapping the red “X” in the top right corner. You will now see “Bonus!”, with the Bonus tile icon, just above your Coin total in the lower left.  You may only have one Bonus active at a time.

What is the Premium Upgrade?

The Premium Upgrade is available on the Store tab.  This allows you to choose your line color (from 6 possible colors), and gives you an automatic 25 Defense points and 25 free Coins at the start of EVERY level.

How do I see my Achievements?

Visit the store by tapping the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left). The Achievements can be found on the Options tab, but only if you are on an Apple device and have purchased the paid version of the game (available here).

Exit the store by tapping the Pumpkin Coin icon again, or by tapping the red “X” in the top right corner.

How do I see my stats?

Visit the store by tapping the Menu button (the Pumpkin Coin at the bottom left). The game Stats are shown on the Options tab.  Here you can see things like total number of Coins, Coffins, or Veggies matched, total damage received, and longest chain.

Tap anywhere on the Stats screen to exit, then tap the Pumpkin Coin icon or the red “X” in the top right corner to exit the store.

Where’s my score?

Villagers vs. Vampires doesn’t keep score – your only goal is to reach the end by defending your castle against all of the Villagers. However, you can compete with your friends based on things like Level, longest chain (tracked on the Stats screen), or Achievements (tracked in Game Center).

Any tips on how to survive?

Remember, Villagers vs. Vampire is not a timed game. Take your time and plan your moves, and keep an eye on your health bar. You can spend your Coins on Upgrade Points and Bonuses to help you defeat the levels.
